Little, Sweet Hearts on a new adventure.

goat trailerWe arrived to pick them up in a horse trailer.

We had already anticipated that they would not be willing participants to get in the trailer to travel to their new home so we were ready for anything.

We never expected what happened next…

Five little goats all in a line…all loving popcorn as their special treat to eat. We watched as the lady who had raised them carried a big bag of popcorn out to the field where they were playing.  Every goat’s head turned to see that a very special snack was in store from the paper bag. Bag of Popcorn

The little goats were in the present moment totally focused on the bag of popcorn…nothing else mattered…nothing else was noticed. We drove the horse trailer close…we opened the back door…the lady had us take the popcorn into the trailer and spread it around.

Low and behold…all five little goats jumped in the trailer goatnumbers…one, two, three, four, five…just like popping corn.

Heidi, Bambie, Anabelle, Pimbee and Buttercup …were in the trailer not paying any attention to the fact that they were headed to a new adventure and a new home.

All of their eyes were on the popcorn snack.  PopcornTreat

We quickly closed the trailer door while they were still unsuspecting.

It was then it dawned on all of them…

It was then that the popcorn held no more magic…

They began to wail and wimper with goat sounds.   They stood on their hind feet and looked out of the trailer no longer interested in their favorite treat.   What have we done…we thought we heard them bellow… We weren’t paying attention…

Now we are in this trailer going somewhere that is unfamiliar…oh my…oh my…oh my…the little goats now had no choice but to ride in the back of a trailer to a place that they didn’t know all because of the “popcorn treat”.

I know I heard one of them say in goat language…”Next time I see popcorn…I’m turning around”:) More Popcorn

But to no avail…now, all five little goats were headed for a new adventure land as they traveled through our gates.

They entered their pen and met their new caretaker, Zara.   Zara

Zara is our female Anatolian Shepherd from Turkey.  She is an expert in guardian work for all kinds of herd animals especially goats.  Zara was so excited to meet her new charges.

She takes her job very seriously.

Heidi, Bambie, Anabelle, Pimbee and Buttercup liked Zara right away.

They were fed some hay and a treat of grain but they were not interested in “popcorn” now.  No, it would be quite a while before they would ever be interested in popcorn again…IF EVER!!!!!   The five little goats started feeling secure because they had a new mama named Zara to be with them all day and all night long.

They had a nice big barn to live in, a pen with water and food and lots of acres of land to play on all through the day.  They love to play.

So this is their new adventure.

So far, they are very happy little goats.   They are meeting all of the other goats who live here that are much bigger than them.

Zara will be there to make sure the five little goats know exactly where to go and what to do.

She will make sure they are protected and safe.

DoghuggoatGoats like to feel safe just like children do.

Heidi, Bambie, Anabelle, Pimbee and Buttercup will have many more adventures to share with you in the near future.  But, one thing for sure…

“the next time they see popcornwoman'shandpopcorn…I, for one, am sure they will turn around”:)

Stay tuned…talk soon, Gabrielle
