Princess Water Lily

Water Lily arrived at the Anipal Sanctuary to reunite with her good friend, Thumper.  I told you she was white with blue eyes…it is true…she is delicate, sweet, and tiny.  She does have a big appetite for such a small little Princess.  She has a “big” secret that no one knows for now.

I decided since Thumper and Water Lily would live now in a Hoop House, they should have the honor of being christened…Chief Thumper and Princess Water Lily…Adventurer and Adventuress.

Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper are now going to begin a great adventure that they can share with you whenever you come to “All Things Adventure”.

Through their adventure, you can learn about the Native American way of life.  A life that was rich with growing food, learning how to survive in all kinds of weather, and making goods to barter.

So, before I tell you what happened when Princess Water Lily arrived, I want to share my thoughts with you on a Hoop House…that is where Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper will live very soon.  We are currently building their new  “house” which arrived yesterday.  Their new house will be placed in the Hoop House.

I told you we would explore what a Hoop House is…in case you don’t know.

Hoop Houses are very interesting and useful.

What is a hoop house?

A Hoop House is an unheated greenhouse. Most hoop houses are built using ‘hoops’, and, thus, they are called “Hoop Houses”.   So the difference between a Greenhouse and a Hoop House is the Hoop House is unheated.

What can you do with a hoop house?

Hoop Houses allow you to grow garden vegetables longer in the fall and earlier in the spring.

The Hoop House is heated by capturing passive solar light.

So Chief Thumper and Princess Water Lily will be living in a Hoop House in a new “hutch” by a pond and waterfall.

And now for my update on the reunion of our two, new Anipals…they were so happy to see each other.  It was a grand reunion.

Princess Water Lily had been rather sad since Thumper had left.  Thumper was so glad to see Princess Water Lily because she had always been such a good friend…a friend he really missed.

They are enjoying their renewed friendship, sharing carrots, pellets, and seeds.

In the next saga of their adventure, they will receive the gift of a “Dream Catcher” for the “Hoop House”.  Do you know what a “Dream Catcher” is?  I will tell you next time…the “Dream Catcher” has a lot in common with a “Hoop House”.

What’s next?

Stay Tuned…Talk Soon,

Gabrielle
